The Reskilling Festival

Hi Everyone,

I want to invite you all to a Reskilling Festival on Sunday, July 19 at the Steiner H.S. There will be a bunch of workshops that sound like fun. Unfortunately, I'll be at camp at the time, so I won't see you there.

Thank you,

Ruby

No Car Wednesdays

I'm glad that all of the no car days were successful. I decided to start "no car Wednesdays." The plan is to not use a car on any Wednesday that you can. Good luck!

Third No Car Day

We almost did the third no car day. This is how it went. I woke up in the morning, ate breakfast, got dressed, brushed my teeth. Then I played and walked to a birthday party. We had planned on walking back but my sister was too tired to walk so we had to drive.

Should we make more car days? Yes, if you want to. It would be good for the environment and good for you!

No Car Day--Day 1 and 2

Background to No Car Day--I came up with the idea for No Car Day. It's a way to save energy for a day and to get people used to not using a car. Me and two friends, in a group I belong to, organized No Car Day. These are my results. If you've tried this, what are yours?

The first no car day my parents actually forgot. I was really disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. The second one was more of a success. My dad woke me up on a Saturday at 7:15 in the morning. I got up, got dressed, had a quick breakfast, and my dad and I starting walking to my teacher's house off of Bird Hills. It was the spring hike for our class, and the class was all meeting at his house. We wondered how much time it was going to take to walk to his house since we had never done it before. The scenery was really beautiful and we decided that we might start walking to school more! The walk ended up taking 40 minutes and we got to his house at 8:30. We actually passed his house at first by mistake and had to call my mom for directions. The 40 minute walk passed really quickly. When we got there everyone was really amazed that we had walked. We spend the rest of the day first walking in Bird Hills for an hour with my class, then walking back home and getting lost again, then walking to the YMCA for swim class, then walking balk home. The whole day included four hours of walking. Day 2 of No Car Day was a lot of walking for me, but I'm glad I did it.
